The Milwaukee Bucks drafted Joe Alexander in 2008. Coming out of West Virginia, Alexander was selected seventh in the first round. Joe spent three years with the Mountaineers. He averaged nearly 17 points and 6.4 rebounds per game in those three seasons.
Alexander has raw talent and an excitement for the game of basketball. He was more than happy to join the Milwaukee Bucks organization. Milwaukee took a keen interest in Alexander from the start. He was the only draft prospect to be invited to Milwaukee a second time before being chosen.
The Bucks coaching staff sees Joe Alexander as either a power, or small forward for his upcoming rookie year.
Joe speaks Mandarin as he spent six years as a child living in Hong Kong. He learned the basics of basketball at the International School of Beijing, Shunyi. He moved back to America for his last two years of high school. By his senior year, he was team captain.
Alexander spent one year of college at Hargrave Military Academy. He played in ten games, and then moved on to West Virginia. He became a starter in his sophomore year.
In his senior year, the Mountaineers made it to the semifinal round of the Big East Tournament. His team won the first two rounds that year, and lost to the #3 team in overtime.
Joe Alexander played in 59 games for the Milwaukee Bucks. He had an average of just under two rebounds per game, and scored an average of 4.7 as well. His best game as a rookie came in March, when he scored a career high of 16 points against the New Jersey Nets. Joe Alexander should see more playing time as the Milwaukee Bucks traded Richard Jefferson at the end of the season.
