More Info
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was drafted by The Milwaukee Bucks. The only Milwaukee championship came about with the help of Abdul-Jabbar. He turned down a large amount of cash from the Globetrotters, turned down a low bid from the ABA, and settled on the Milwaukee offer. At the time his name was Lew Alcindor.

In his 1971 season he won the league MVP and the Milwaukee Bucks went on to win the championship. He changed his name to Kareem immediately after they won.

As a young player who had a height advantage over most others in the NBA, Jabbar used the very effective “Sky Hook” as a finesse move. He helped keep Milwaukee up in the win column for another four years after winning the championship. Notable stats for his career include the second most games played in the NBA, third most rebounds, over 1100 steals, 3000+ blocks, and the big one, most points scored at 38,387.

He holds the record for the most All Star appearances, games played as an All Star and most playoff games played.

Kareem found Milwaukee and the Midwest United States to be lacking in a culture that he could be part of. He asked to be traded to either coast, and got his wish. He left for the Lakers. Jabbar had a few acting roles after he retired, most notably the movie Airplane! and Game of Death starring Bruce Lee.
